Our task was to create a typical photo associated with a few genres.
Rom-com
This image shows the genre of a rom-com. We used bright colours to show high-key lighting which is usually used for this genre.
We used the background as a flower bed which also shows the genre as a pleasant image to go with the positive hand gesture.
This image is suitable for the rom-com genre because it suggests love and passion within the two hands joined, in front of bright green and pink colours representing love.
We used a close positioning to the camera frame because it shows the close connection between the two people.
Horror
We produced this image for the genre horror, we used a dark filter to show low-key lighting to create a dark and eerie scene. We used the far away camera frame positing because it creates a creepy paranormal feature to the photo. We positioned the character in the photo so you can only see half of the figure, this creates suspense and mystery.
We also adjusted the hood on the character so it was up, this forms a darker personality which adds more fear to the image.
We used the mirror in the picture so it showed the role in the camera where it shouldn't be as it wouldn't normally be seen in a mirror looking back at you.
Also the view of a hand creeping round the wall suggests fear once again.
Action
For action, we used the setting in the car park. We used low-key lighting to create shadows under the car and used the central position to place the character. We took the photo from under the next car as action films usually use modern cars and technology. Action films mostly use dark colours to illustrate their film cover as black is a common colour for this genre.
We used this image to suggest that a mission is taking place in the photo because the role has a facial expression of concentration as the eyes are looking straight at the camera.
Sci-Fi
For sci-fi we used an image of an eye, which edited to duplicate the picture. Low-key lighting is used to create shadows and reflections in the eye, but it also uses high-key lighting to make the image bright and bold.
The image is up close to the frame which creates a daring and striking impression of the sci-fi film.
The glow of the colours form many shadows and reflection which bring more images to the photo as you look. For example, in the centre of the eye you can see behind the photo which produces a dark figure.
Comedy
For comedy we used a close to the frame position so the camera could focus on the grin on the character. This immediately shows that the genre could be comedy which works well with the high-key lighting normally seen in comedies as they are enjoyable.
The image works well as a comedy because the character is rebelling as she is climbing over the warning sign which is also focused on in the frame.
