The Vow
From the trailer we see a newly-wed couple who are in love as we see the man ask for his partner to move in shorty after we see them get married. However further on in the trailer we see a dramatic change in the relationship when a car crash results in her forgetting who he is.
We discover that the film is then about them trying to make the relationship work, even though she cannot remember their love. He tries to recover this relationship.
The film is set in the season of summer, we can tell this by scenes outside including the first when they get married. This scene is created colourful by high-key lighting and continues this way throughout most the trailer, until the crash. When the couple start the traumatic part of their relationship, low-key lighting is introduced when the crash occurs at night and later in the hospital it is used to show a dark and sad setting.
This film has the genre of rom-com, an emotional and deep story which affects both main characters. Although to start with, the film includes comedy before the crash which turns the lives of the two roles upside down.
This romantic disaster is played by two main characters which clearly have love and passion for each other, the people the film have chosen are young to suit the story line of two young people falling in love and getting married.
The trailer suggests that the theme for this film is love and relationships and is related to the time of year, Valentines day.
Guardians of the galaxy
The trailer shows that most of the film is set inside an abnormal place, suggesting a space ship this feature helps the audience recognise its genre as Sci-Fi. This suggestion is then thought again when characters are introduced who are different, fictional personalities.
We first believe this film is Sci-fi but the trailer also shows the film includes humour therefore involves a wider audience.
The target audience for this film would be people who have enjoyed previous sci-fi films and people who enjoy an unrealistic comedy.
To begin with, the film is created as a mysterious setting due to dark clothing, low-key lighting and a blackened atmosphere. This then changes later when scenes are seen outside and in a lighter place, however to fit the genre, low-key lighting used the majority of the film. Both day and night scenes are used, dark to show fear at the start, but when we realise it includes humour day scenes are used to make it less threatening.
We know the film is also part comedy because the music changes from dramatic to cheerful and the characters are suggested to be less mature as one of them is a racoon.
Mrs Doubtfire
I have chosen Mrs Doubtfire because of the well known characters and the popular film itself.
Mrs Doubtfire is about a family breaking apart due to a divorce. This divorce leads to a loving father missing his children dearly as he no longer can see them when he wants to. The three children can only visit every so often and of course this isn't enough for him. To see his children he will do anything and after hearing news that his wife wants to employ a nanny, he applies for the job. With a new makeover he is disguised as a nanny just so he can see his children. This trailer shows this is a comedy by showing funny parts of the film when things go wrong.
The setting is in America, a well brought up area as they live in a large house where most of the film is set. Other scenes are shown outside using high-key lighting making it a family drama/comedy.
Characters include the family of five and a new boyfriend of the mother, who Mrs Doubtfire obviously doesn't like.
The theme to this film is family and care for the fathers children and includes all ages within the film therefore adds interest to any age, especially families.
