More successful film title sequences

Alien

I took only 6 screenshots of this film title sequence as I believe it showed everything it needed to. This title order and presentation gave a very simple yet very imaginative opening. I really liked how the titles were introduced as the actual film title was given slowly throughout the duration and each letter of the word appeared when another title was given below. The sequence started with just one name, the next was another name and a letter added for the title this continued the whole way through gradually showing the films title.

I also liked the background used for this sequence as it relates to the clear genre of sci-fi as the dark background of space is used. Again, the picture slowly moves across showing more of the planet and when it reaches the other side of the planet the titles finish with just the film titles name.

I thought this idea was clever because it was different because most other title sequences use the title either at the start or finish then they disappear where as this one was used through the whole duration.

Its a mad mad mad mad world

The job of the title sequence is to present the audience with an interesting display of names used in the film which I think this film has done successfully. I think this because as a viewer I enjoyed watching it.

It worked well because of how titles were used differently and how the 'world' is used for a number of other different objects. For example in the top left corner the world is being rolled into the text showing what the film was presenting. In the second image the world has been cut where another name is shown. Another way the image of the world is used is the bottom picture where it becomes a wind up toy and it spins away creating the appearance of more titles.

The actual film title is shown early on but is not the first title. It is obvious it is the title because different text is used and it uses a different coloured background to all the others. The background used in others are plain, bold colours such as green and red which makes the titles stand out.

I liked this title sequence because it was fun to watch as it wasn't just the same text positioning for each name.
